Kevin Pincus grew up in a small suburb on the Jersey shore known as Toms River. He attended college at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville Florida where, in 1996, he received his BA in Art and Geography. After graduating he went on to travel and work for two years. In 1998 he settled down and began his masters studies in fine arts at the University of Hawaii, Manoa. In 2001 he received his Masters of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing. Upon completing his studies, he remained in Hawaii before relocating to San Francisco in 2002 in order to further his career and development as a painter.

Among his influences are the Abstract Expressionist sculpture of David Smith and painters like Willem de Kooning, and Barnett Newman. His contemporary influences are Sandow Birk, Robert Irwin, and Cecily Brown to list just a few. Kevin spends his days working construction and his nights in his studio. He believes it is important to maintain an aggressive studio narrative and not to take things too seriously.
