SUMMER IN THE CITY
Newmark GalleryÕs Third Anniversary
Celebration Exhibition
July 5th to August 18th, 2007. Opening Reception July 5th,
6 to 8 PM
Newmark Gallery San Francisco, founded by
Mark J. Wladika, officially opened its doors at 251 Post Street on June 3rd,
2004. To celebrate the beginning
of our fourth year here in the Union Square district of San Francisco, we are
pleased to announce a summer show featuring some of the artists and range of
distinctive styles we have exhibited over the past three years. Committed to the finest contemporary
art from the Bay Area and Europe, the focus on the gallery is on original
works, predominantly painting, ranging from twenty first century abstraction to
cutting edge portraiture, cityscapes and landscapes, as well as masterful
etchings and computer based installations.
Our annual San Francisco Cityscapes Shows
have partnered the gallery with some of the finest mid career Bay Area artists;
many have gone on to do solo exhibits at the gallery. Emerging artists, especially those working in the new wave
of abstraction, have been sought out and nurtured by the gallery. We are also delighted to introduce mid
and late career Dutch, French, Russian and Polish artists to the Bay Area.
Made up of a succession of intimate
rooms, the walls painted in a palette of neutral greens and grays designed by
the celebrated colorist Jeffrey Louis, this unique and memorable gallery space has
garnered a faithful following over the few years it has occupied its address in
the historic 251 Post building. We
look forward to furthering our work among the fine arts community of San
Francisco with ever more diverse and exciting exhibits in the coming year.
Featured artists include: Christian de Cambiaire, Gilles Combet,
Anna Conti, Paula Evers, Anthony Holdsworth, Ilan Laks, Beryl Landau, Pierre
Merkl III, Anna Mir, Marianne Mitchell, Larry Morace, Kevin Pincus, Anne
Subercaseaux, Toru Sugita and Hans VanHorck,
